Changing your tenancy
Tell us your name has changed
If you change your name, you must tell us so we can update your tenancy records. This applies to changes after marriage, divorce, or any other legal change. Keeping your details up to date helps avoid problems with your tenancy and future services.
What proof you need
You must provide proof of your new name. You can use:
- a marriage certificate
- a passport
- a driving licence
- another legal document
You can upload a clear scan or photo of your document using our online form. The maximum file size is 24MB.
Your tenancy agreement
You do not need to sign a new tenancy agreement when you change your name. If you would like a new agreement, we can arrange this for you.
Before you report a change
If you are thinking about any change to your tenancy, read the guide for council tenants first. It explains your rights and responsibilities.
