Third sector grants
Grants to help your group make a difference in your local area
We offer grants to support local community groups, charities, voluntary organisations and social enterprises in South Lanarkshire. You can apply for funding to run activities, start new projects or grow your services. Our grants help strengthen communities, improve wellbeing and bring people together.
Before you apply, make sure your organisation is set up properly and has the documents we need.
Who can apply
You must be a formally set up (constituted) group. This means you need:
- a governing document (your rules or constitution)
- a bank account in your organisation’s name
- recent accounts
- over £10,000: audited or independently checked
- under £10,000: accounts required by your constitution
- public liability insurance for your activities
You can read our grant policy before applying.
Types of funding available
Small grants (£1 to £1,000)
- Community grants – support local activities or help promote your group
- Playscheme grants – fund holiday activities for children
Medium grants (£1,001 to £19,999)
- Communities Can Do Fund – for one-off or short-term local projects

Investment grants (£20,000 and over)
These support larger projects or ongoing services that meet key local needs. Some are awarded directly, while others may open for applications.
Participatory budgeting
Local residents help decide how some funding is spent in their area. You can take part or put forward ideas.

We also manage some external funding opportunities. These may have different rules.
