Tackling anti-social behaviour a key council commitment
Published: Tuesday 1 March 2022
A clear commitment to protecting local communities is underlined as a new Anti-Social Behaviour Policy is launched today.
The policy has been approved by councillors and provides a clear definition of what is and what is not deemed anti-social behaviour.
There is also a greater focus on preventing anti-social behaviour and ensuring a person-centred approach when supporting victims of anti-social behaviour.
The policy sets out a number of key aims and objectives that are consistent with the council’s vision to protect vulnerable children, young people and adults, tackle disadvantage and deprivation and promote sustainable communities.
Full details of the new policy can be found on the council website.
Chair of the council’s Housing and Technical Resources Committee, Councillor Josh Wilson, said: “The new policy is fully compliant with updated or new legislative and regulatory requirements.
“In addition, it also considers the council’s overall approach to tackling anti-social behaviour and how it is managed across different services.”
Executive Director of Housing and Technical Resources, Daniel Lowe, said: “The council is committed to tackling anti-social behaviour.
"The revised policy aligns with the wider Anti-social behaviour Strategy, and sets out the council’s approach which was formed following consultation with a wide range of services and partners, as well as feedback from those with lived experience of anti-social behaviour who have used council and partner services.”
