Improvements on way for road in Hamilton

A council worker looks on as a machine breaks up the existing surface to prepare the road for resurfacing

Major resurfacing works are to take place on Pollock Avenue in Hamilton.

The work will take place from 8am on Monday 26 June until 8pm on Friday 30 June between Pollock Avenue’s junction with Hillhouse Road to its junction with Beattock Wynd.

Unfortunately, the road is not sufficiently wide enough to safely maintain vehicular access while the resurfacing is being undertaken.

Head of Roads and Transportation Services, Colin Park, said: “We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may occur during these essential road improvement works.

“We would ask that road users try to avoid the area if possible, but if not that they take note of the diversion route and leave extra time for their journey.”

A diversion will be in place via Hillhouse Road, Wellhall Road, Peacock Way, A724 Burnbank Road and Pollock Avenue.

Mr Park added: “General traffic will be unable to travel through the closure, although we will endeavour to maintain access for businesses within the closure wherever possible.

“There may be instances when leaving and entering the area will be significantly delayed depending on the status and progress of works on site.

“If you wish to avoid this, it may be advisable to park your vehicle elsewhere. Traffic Marshals and site staff will be there to advise during the working day.”
