New homes in Larkhall now complete
Published: Wednesday 5 July 2023

A total of 38 new council homes have been built in Larkhall.
Tenants have now moved into the homes in Avon Road, with the development made up of a mix of cottage flats, detached bungalows, mid-terrace, end terrace and semi-detached houses. A mixture of one, two, three and four bedroom homes were available.
The homes were constructed in partnership with Cruden Building & hub South West, a successful partnership which has already delivered developments at Auldkirk Road, Cambuslang (48 units) and Glengonnar Street, Larkhall (20 units).
The council’s Head of Housing Services, Sharon Egan, said: “We are delighted that our tenants have now moved into their new homes at Avon Road.
“The development consists of a range of house types, suitable for households with varying needs and built to the highest standards of energy efficiency.
“We have ambitious plans to build 1,300 more council homes across South Lanarkshire by the end of March 2027.
“These new homes will help us reach that target and follows an earlier programme of 1,000 additional homes between 2017 and 2022/23.”
Michael Ross, Chief Executive of Public Sector Development Partner hub South West said; “It is fantastic to see tenants move in to their new homes. We are proud of the part we have played in delivering these first class houses and look forward to working in partnership with the council in the future to deliver more.”
Colin Kennedy, Construction Director for Cruden Building added; “We are delighted to complete another successful development on behalf of South Lanarkshire Council and to see tenants enjoying life in their new homes. The mix of bungalows, flats and houses, will help to meet the varied and changing needs of tenants. The new homes are also extremely energy efficient, making them cost efficient to run.”
The development is part of the Council’s flagship Home+ Programme, part funded by a grant from the Scottish Government’s Affordable Housing Supply Programme.
