Improvement works continue on Hamilton’s Low Patrick Street
Published: Monday 31 July 2023
The second phase of major improvement works to the road surface of Low Patrick Street, Hamilton, gets underway this weekend.
Following the completion of the first phase which was completed on Sunday 23 July, which saw the closure of the northbound carriageway of Low Patrick Street at its junctions with Townhead Street and High Patrick Street, the second phase will be carried out from 8am on Saturday 5 until 10pm on Sunday 6 August.
The southbound carriageway will be closed from its junction with Townhead Street to its junction with High Patrick Street. A diversion will be in place via A723 Blackswell Lane, A72 Palace Grounds Road, A72 Muir Street, A72 Almada Street, A724 Union Street, Auchincampbell Road, Kemp Street, Gateside Street & A723 Duke Street.
Although general traffic will be unable to travel through the closures during the works, the council will endeavour wherever possible to maintain access for residents and businesses who live or operate within the affected area. There may be instances where access and egress will be significantly delayed depending on the status and progress of the work on site but, whenever this occurs, traffic marshals and site staff will be on hand to advise and assist residents.
All road users are advised to allow additional time for any journeys that involve the use of Low Patrick Street during these times and to plan their journeys accordingly.
The council apologises for any inconvenience that may occur during these essential road improvement works, but the results will be of benefit to drivers in the longer term.
