A Rutherglen primary school welcomed a couple of very special visitors recently.
Go Fresh characters Chris Corn and Sally Strawberry visited Bankhead Primary School, following the school having one of the highest sales increases on a special theme day.
The meal choices on the day were a selection of new items on the menu, along with the favourite meal choices from pupils across South Lanarkshire.
Joining the characters on the visit was the chair of the council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, Councillor Robert Brown.
Councillor Brown said: “It was great fun to see how much the pupils all enjoyed the visit from Chris Corn and Sally Strawberry.
“Encouraging our young people to have a healthy, balanced meal is of course the main aim of events like this, so there is a more serious message behind it.
“Well done to Bankhead Primary School for having the biggest uptake in lunches for the Rutherglen and Cambuslang area.”
As well as Bankhead, Mount Cameron and Libberton Primary Schools were also recognised for having had the highest sales increase.
