Waist Not Want Not is a community-based project based in Greenhills, offering local people the opportunity to swap clothing items for other items that they may have better use of, in turn reducing fast-fashion waste. Items are also available at a low cost to help the cost-of-living crisis.

The project also run a Community Corner next to their shop, with various classes and workshops such as sewing and haberdashery, mental health support group, a coffee and chat group that targets members of the community that feel isolated, various health groups, women’s wellbeing group and many more.

An increase in running costs meant the project were having to consider reducing the services the Community Corner provides, so they appealed to the Community Wish List for financial help.

Broxap Ltd answered the wish with a donation of £250.

Waist Not Want Not Project Manager Jan Thomson said: “We are delighted to receive a donation from Broxap Ltd through the community wish list.

“None of our success would be possible without generous donors, your donation helps keep the lights on, a roof overhead, and allows us to continue supporting our community. 

“Thank you for choosing our charity we are very grateful for your kindness.” 

Stuart Angus, Broxap Ltd’s Scottish Regional Sales Director said: “We are pleased to make this financial donation to the Waist Not Want Not local community group, providing the group with much needed assistance over the coming months.  

“We look forward to hopefully being in a position in the future to make further donations, to this, or similar South Lanarkshire community group projects.”

The Community Wish List is supported by South Lanarkshire Council’s Community Engagement Team.
