The funds, which are administered by South Lanarkshire Council, are the community benefit element of the Renewable Energy Fund (REF) for 42 wind farms within South Lanarkshire, the community benefit for Clyde Wind Farm Fund (CWFF) and five operational quarries.

A total of 87 grants and micro grants were awarded from the REF, at a value of £2.5 million.

And 14 grants and micro grants were awarded from the CWFF, at a value of £1.18 million.

Chair of the Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, Councillor Robert Brown, said: “This funding has helped a wide range of organisations across South Lanarkshire and has a real benefit to local communities.

“We recently changed the criteria which means groups can, in some cases, get up to 100% of the funding they need for their projects.

“This means the Community Benefit Funds can continue to have a positive impact and make a real difference to projects that are eligible.

“I would like to thank all our partners who contribute to this fund.”
