Have your say on plans for Douglas Valley

Options are being explored to establish Douglas Valley as an outdoor recreation and adventure tourism destination.
The project for the area in Clydesdale is being led by South Lanarkshire Council in partnership with the Douglas Valley Action Group.
Early proposals include a new visitor hub, recreational trails, adventure activities and active travel routes connecting surrounding communities.
Throughout November, events for local communities will be held to feed into designs and shape proposals at an early stage.
Chair of the council’s Community and Enterprise Resources Committee, Councillor Robert Brown, said: “These are exciting times for communities in the Douglas Valley area, and I would encourage everyone to come along to one of the sessions to let us know their views.
“The creation of the Hagshaw Cluster Development Framework sets out a vision for the local environment and communities, and aims to guide the long-term development of the area.
“One of the key opportunities identified by the framework was to establish Douglas Valley as a key regional destination for outdoor recreation and adventure sports.”
The first drop-in public consultation event takes place on Wednesday 6 November in St Bride’s Centre, Douglas. The next event is on Thursday 7 November at Coalburn Miners Welfare, 42 Coalburn Road. A week later, on Thursday 14 November, the event will take place at Rigside Community Hall, 59 Muirfoot Rd. All three of these events will take place between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.
The next event is on Saturday 16 November from 10.30am to 2.30pm at The Fountain Community Centre (Main Hall), 11 Abbeygreen, Lesmahagow.
Next up is Muirkirk Community Centre, Burns Avenue, on Monday 18 November from 4pm to 7.30pm. The final event will be at Glespin Community Hall, Ayr Road, on Wednesday 20 November from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.
