New homes continue to be delivered thanks to Home+

Our Home+ programme is continuing to deliver much needed new council homes across South Lanarkshire.
Jointly funded between the council and the Scottish Government, 50 new homes were completed at Brackenhill Farm in Hamilton, comprising a range of different house types suitable for older people and families with varying needs.
At Jackton Hall in East Kilbride, 40 new council homes have also recently been completed, consisting of family homes and cottage flats with ground floor wheelchair accessibility.
Mr McClure, a tenant who moved into a ground floor, wheelchair accessible cottage flat at Jackton Hall earlier this year said: “The home I received is life changing.”
A further 122 council homes are currently under construction across developments in Cambuslang, East Kilbride and Hamilton with completion anticipated for these later in 2025 and early 2026. The type and size of properties being built at each of these sites aims to improve the range of homes provided by the council in different areas.
In addition to our exciting new build developments, through our Market Purchase Scheme, the council are continuing to buy existing properties to help meet a range of housing needs.
Last year,130 homes were purchased from the private sector from across South Lanarkshire helping to improve the range and type of homes available, particularly where new homes are not able to be built.
Sharon Egan, Interim Director of Housing and Technical Resources said: “This is an exciting time for South Lanarkshire’s Home+ programme. Despite challenging market conditions, the council continues to demonstrate its commitment to delivering the priorities identified in our Local Housing Strategy”
Other developments throughout South Lanarkshire are being considered for development or progressing through the planning application process, with further information regarding these in future editions of the Housing News.
