Overnight closures for street in Hamilton
Published: Monday 25 August 2025
Improvement works are to take place on Muir Street in Hamilton from next week.
To minimise disruption the work will be carried out over two consecutive nights, starting on Monday 1 September from 8pm to 6am, and then from the same time on Tuesday 2 September (opening at 6am on Wednesday 3 September).
Muir Street will close nightly from Lower Auchingramont Road to Almada Street at 8pm and reopen at 6am each morning to ensure daytime access remains unaffected. The section of road between the junction at the supermarket and Almada Street will be resurfaced. The alternative route during the closure will be Palace Grounds Road, Blackswell Lane, Low Patrick Street, Duke Street, Brandon Street, Union Street and Almada Street.
As part of the works Cadzow Street will be closed nightly from the junction of Auchingramont Road to Muir Street at 8pm and reopen at 6am. Residents affected by the Cadzow Street closure will be notified via letter with additional information.
Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, Colin Park, said: “We would request that all road users allow additional time for all journeys which involve the use of Muir Street during the times indicated and that they plan their journey accordingly.
“We apologise for any inconvenience that may occur during these essential road improvement works.”
