Toys and equipment boost for Blantyre charity
Published: Tuesday 16 December 2025
A charity supporting young people with additional support and complex needs has been given a cash boost by the Participatory Budgeting fund.
ASNsory Crew, which is based in TACT community hall in Blantyre, runs stay and play sessions to give the young people the opportunity to access safe and inclusive play in a non-judgmental environment.
The group was awarded £2,500 from the fund which will go towards toys and equipment.
Since opening in January ASNsory Crew has supported more than 150 local families.
Kirsten Darling from ASNsory Crew said: "Receiving the PB grant meant we could offer fully accessible toys and equipment that give every child – regardless of need – the chance to play safely, confidently and without limits.
“This funding helps us remove barriers and create meaningful, inclusive opportunities for our children to socialise and thrive."
Council Leader and Chair of the Community Planning Partnership, Councillor Joe Fagan, said: “Participatory Budgeting works best because it targets what local people tell us they need.
“In this case, the work ASNsory Crew is doing to help young people with additional support and complex needs in Blantyre is vital.
“It once again shows the tremendous sense of community we have across South Lanarkshire, and I would like to thank everyone involved with the group for all the invaluable work they do.”
