About this goal

Our planet has provided us with an abundance of natural resources.  But we have not utilized them responsibly and currently consume far beyond what our planet can provide.  We must learn how to use and produce in sustainable ways that will reverse the harm that we have inflicted on the planet. SDG12 - Leap

R:evolve Recycle are an exciting and innovative initiative based at locations in South Lanarkshire and influence creative and transformative practices throughout the UK.  At the heart of the project are a resourceful team dedicated to reducing the impact of fast fashion and textile waste.  Intergenerational work supports skills and life-experience sharing through a host of activities that encourages a traditional ‘make do and mend’ culture.

Swap ShopSecond hand is not second best.

Their vibrant high-street style boutiques offer quality pre-loved clothes, shoes and accessories at no cost through the points-based system.  Helping us to see value in what we already own, shoppers simply swap items for something they find more useful.  The stores are an Alladin’s cave of unusual treasures – Jinty’s Haberdashery stocks repurposed items such as wool, textiles, vintage buttons and even patterns.  The team pride themselves in saving every last item from landfill – waste is not an option here!

Thrift and Gift

Local volunteer, artisans and craftspeople produce beautiful, sustainably made items which can be purchased within the store, some of which are made inhouse at their workshops.

Spreading the word

The team are passionate about getting their message out far and wide, offering bespoke learning opportunities, making learning easy and fun.  Classes and workshops give people the skills and confidence to upcycle and repair their own clothing.  They also share their own learning experience with likeminded organisations who want to replicate their very successful model and they will even bring their unique style to festivals and events with their pop-up shop.

When it comes to tackling fast fashion and textile waste, Re:volve Recycle are leading the way!
