Are you passionate about Hamilton Town Centre
Published: Thursday 26 March 2026
People with a commitment to Hamilton Town Centre are being invited to join the team that will help shape its future.
Applications are being sought for the Neighbourhood Board that will lead on the local Pride in Place project that will benefit from up to £20 million in UK Government funding over the next 10 years.
Board Chair Ronnie Smith was appointed last week, and he is now looking to recruit individual board members, especially those who would be representative of the following groups:
- Community leaders such as community groups, faith groups and youth groups;
- Local businesses and social enterprises such as Business Improvement District representatives,
- Chamber of Commerce, and key employers/investors;
- Cultural, arts, heritage and sporting organisations such as local sports clubs and heritage groups; and
- Public agencies and anchor institutions such as local schools, higher and further education establishment, community planning partnerships, and GPs.
Mr Smith said: "This is an exciting opportunity to make a real long-term difference to Hamilton Town Centre and its local communities. I would urge anyone with a commitment to those communities to come forward and apply to join the board."
The Pride in Place Programme aims to support the most in-need neighbourhoods and has 3 core objectives: to build stronger communities; to create thriving places; and to empower people to take back control. Learn more about the programme here.
The board will develop A Pride in Place Plan to outline their vision for change over the next decade and how they will use the funding to achieve their goals. The board will also undertake additional extensive community consultation to support the development of the plan.
To apply, please complete the Expressions of Interest Form which can be found here. Deadline for expressions of interest is 5pm on 17 April 2026.
Shortleeting and any interviews will take place during May 2026, with appointments made by the board Chair, in consultation with Imogen Walker MP, and approved by South Lanarkshire Council.
