Education and campaigns to improve road safety
We provide road safety education, training and advice to help people travel safely in South Lanarkshire.
Our programmes are designed to support safer behaviour and reduce the risk of collisions. We work with people of all ages, from young children to older road users.
What we offer
We support a range of road safety activities and campaigns. These include:
- education programmes for adults
- cycling safety training
- advice on driver and pedestrian distractions
- information on driver fatigue and in-car safety
- campaigns such as Park Safe and slowing down in residential areas
We also support national campaigns focusing on key issues such as speeding, drink and drug driving, and driving for work.
Working with schools
We work closely with schools to build road safety skills from an early age. Our activities support the Curriculum for Excellence and help develop safe travel habits.
Programmes for schools include:
- road safety calendar competition
- bikeability cycle training
- school travel plans
- Junior Road Safety Officer scheme for primary and Mechanimals for secondary ages
