Youth Council
South Lanarkshire Youth Council makes sure young people have a voice at local and national level.
The Youth Council is made up of young volunteers between the ages of 12 and 25. It provides them with the opportunity to meet and possibly influence the way services are delivered and shaped, by for example the Council, police and the health board.
The South Lanarkshire Youth Strategy, through the Corporate Connections Board (Community Planning Youth Partnership), is the main group for doing this.
Youth Councillors represent the views of young people on a range of current issues including:
- health and wellbeing
- youth friendly services
- learning and working
- youth rights and responsibilities
- being included in decision making
Councillors also represent young people at national events, conferences and major youth forums such as the Scottish Youth Parliament.
