Pride in Place
Pride in Place funding for Hamilton town centre

Hamilton town centre will receive up to £20 million from the UK Government’s Pride in Place programme. The funding will be used over 10 years to support local improvements and help make Hamilton a better place to live, work, visit and spend time.
Local people will help shape how the money is used. The Hamilton Town Centre Board was formed in June 2026 to develop a long-term plan for the town centre, based on local needs and community feedback.
What is Pride in Place?
Pride in Place is a UK Government funding programme for towns and neighbourhoods that need long-term investment. £5.8 billion has been committed to transform 284 of the most in-need neighbourhoods across the UK.
The programme aims to:
- build stronger communities
- create thriving places
- empower people to take back control
Hamilton was named as one of 14 areas in Scotland to receive £20 million Pride in Place funding in December 2025.
How the funding will be used
The funding will support improvements in Hamilton town centre over 10 years.
The Hamilton Town Centre Board will work with local people to agree a vision and investment plan for the area. This plan will set out what the funding should be used for and how it can make the biggest difference.
Community feedback will help the board understand what matters most to people who live, work, visit and run businesses in Hamilton.
