Budget consultation

We have agreed the budget for 2026 to 2027. Your feedback from the consultation helped shape the final plan so we can close a shortfall of more than £14 million while protecting essential services. The consultation survey closed on Wednesday 14 January 2026.

Budget agreed

Each year we must set a balanced budget. For 2026 to 2027, we needed to save more than £14 million. We asked for your views on 17 savings options, and we used what you told us to make the final decisions.

What we decided

Why your feedback mattered

We have already saved more than £140 million over the last ten years. Costs are still rising and demand for services is increasing. Your feedback helped us understand which proposals would affect you most. We used that insight to adjust our plans and reduce the impact where we could.

What happens next

• We will publish the consultation summary and detailed budget documents.
• Services will share information about any changes and when they start.
