Traffic regulation orders

Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) manage how roads are used. They set limits on vehicle movement, speed and parking.

They can define where and when you can park, load or unload. They also cover things like waiting restrictions, one-way streets, and banned turns at junctions.

Why we use TROs

TROs help improve road safety and ensure fair use of the road network.

They balance the needs of residents, businesses, shoppers and commuters. As a result, they affect everyone who uses the road.

Putting a TRO in place

Introducing a TRO involves a legal process that can take between six months and two years.

When a new TRO is proposed, we:

• publish a public notice in local newspapers
• include it in the current list of proposed TROs
