Vote by post

If you have already applied for a postal vote your postal pack which will include your ballot paper, postal voting statement and return envelopes will then be sent to the address you have requested.

If you choose to vote by post you will not be able to vote at a polling station. However it is possible to hand your completed postal pack into a polling station within the South Lanarkshire area if you are unable to post it back in time.

Vote by proxy (someone you appoint to vote on your behalf)

If you can't go to the polling station and don't wish to vote by post, you can appoint someone you trust to vote on your behalf (a proxy).

Anyone can be your proxy as long as they are eligible to vote in the election and are willing to vote on your behalf. You have to provide a reason for needing a proxy vote, such as:

• you are going away on holiday
• you have a physical condition that prevents you from getting to the polling station
• the kind of work you do means you can't get to the polling station
• you are a Crown Servant or a member of His Majesty's Armed Forces
