SummaryThe West Partnership have commissioned educators from across the eight local authorities which make up the Glasgow City Region area to produce video-based teaching and learning content to be shared across all local authority educational establishments. These resources provide a common digital resource for education across the region, ensuring ongoing resilience for both in school and remote teaching and learning, alongside supporting the wider flexible learning strategies. ClickView are supporting the partnership by hosting and distributing all the partnership’s video content. This will enable every member of staff and every learner from across all schools in the partnership to access this content directly from within Glow or their chosen single sign on provider. In SLC, learners and staff will access via Glow, the national online learning platform. The aim is to create the West Online School.

The service is chargeable by annual subscription fee and the cost is currently being met by the West Partnership, however it is necessary for each partner local authority to complete their own DPIA for sharing their own data.

In the current pandemic emergency, this solution offers an invaluable resource to allow sharing high quality curricular materials to all participating authorities and schools, which can be accessed by pupils and teachers both at school and at home, supporting a blended learning model so that learning and teaching can continue, regardless of location. It will save time for teachers in having to create their own digital resources, and instead they can use resources which have been created and shared by other teachers within the collaborative. Materials will be comprised of recorded teacher lessons, how to guides etc.

ClickView is a cloud-based “software-as-a-service” solution that hosts video and other rich content so that it can be easily catalogued and accessed. A login is required to access the system and to identify the user and their school and stage. User logins will be provisioned centrally via Glow so that single sign on is possible (ie users will use their Glow username/email to log in to ClickView). Pupils do not themselves post content or add their own data.
