Muster at New Lanark Car Park

Police Scotland quad bikes requested to accompany event throughout, if available. They will liaise and co-ordinate with the organiser and responsible in advance of the event.
A route map will be available
No other police support required as this is not intended as a spectator event.

Riders make way from car park to Delves Park via Braxfield Road, Wellgatehead and Delves Road.

Principals from towns represented pick up Banners/Flags/Standards.
Riders reassemble in order issued by Lord Cornets Club.

Lanark and District Pipe Band leads Lord Cornet, Right Hand Man, Left Hand Man and President followed by Ex-lord Cornets and visiting principals and ex-principals to Lanark Cross.

Arrival at Lanark Cross for ‘Safe Oot’ Safe In’.
All riders then move off up High Street (North Side) to junction at Oxfam.
Route then veers right into Bannatyne Street (two way, on left).
Riders continue past St Vincent Place and into Ladyacre Road to roundabout.
Route passes Retail Park entrance then takes second exit into
Hyndford Road towards Wellgatehead, turning sharp left at the junction
into Braxfield Road. then making short stop as riders pass Albany Drive
to drop off Standards/Flags/Banners.

Riders proceed down Braxfield Road to the Old Nursery, going left through the gate into fields then immediately right and canter parallel to the Lady Mary, through the first gate into the second field to Bonnington Mains Farm.
Riders continue walking through the gate heading to Robiesland Farm Cottage, then through the gate and straight down to the bottom. They continue through the gate there and canter round the next two fields, returning to the usual Tuesday night exit, going left on to the Lady Mary and back towards Colin Young’s Old Nursery, turning right through the same gate, cantering parallel with The Beeches, right at the end of the Beeches field.
The course continues to the Lawrie and Symington old coup through the field parallel with Hyndford Road then left to Robiesland Road, over the railway bridge, then first right through the gates into Lawrie and Symington Market. Riders go on down past the new shed and into Andrew Provan’s fields, heading towards Langloch and CCI, where they go through the gate and right onto the Quarry road then first left up through the gates on the track a short distance then left then round the 2 fields parallel with McCanns existing through the gate then left onto Hyndford Road (on Road) for 200m then right onto racecourse where there’s a canter up the back straight. Exiting towards the rugby clubhouse for lunch and water stop.


After lunch stop proceed through country park car park left onto Hyndford Road and left for 50 metres, then across to the right and onto Robiesland Farm Road (crossing main A73 road which would benefit from police presence, possibly quad bikes) on past Robiesland Farm.
After Robiesland farm proceed down track take 1st right down to the Robiesland Policies, going right through the gate, over three fields to the exit that leads to the Weir bridge. Over the bridge then turn right and follow the tracks to exit left up towards the hunting gate which leads to Fay/Lois Hamilton’s track and fields, heading towards Corehouse Home Farm.

At the farm the route turns right down towards Corehouse West Lodge, then right at the lodge and along to the left along the track to Corehouse North Lodge entrance. Riders then exit right onto Kirkfield Road, down to Kirkfieldbank New Bridge;
( note that this is a short period on the main A72 road, to the bridge, and would benefit from police presence, perhaps quad bikes) over the bridge then first left down Mousemill Road, past the caravan park, then Sunnyside entrance 1st left up the ditches then up to Nemphlar crossroads, left at crossroads down the road to curries farm for 1./2 mile then right through the double gates into the big stubble field, then onto the next 2 and back out just down from entrance to the Rothesbank and Lockhartbank, then down to Lee Castle track turning left towards East Lodge, and canter along track then take left just before lodge house and round stubble field on left and back onto track then right round the next stubble field passing Eastmore house on the right hand side the exit right through the double metal gates back down Mousemill Road towards Lynn Gibbons, caravan park to the bottom of Kirkfieldbank Brae.

Riders go first left onto the hill and then first right towards the sewage works.
(This crossing usually has a police car (possibly quad bike) in attendance for our events to hold traffic movements both ways on the Brae to allow the riders to make the crossing safely).

The route then moves past the sewage works, up to St Partick’s Road, past the Castlebank Park gates into Castlegate and right into Delves Park. The final stage takes riders through the barrier, first right, then left into the Glenmuir Factory field and the bottom of the 1st field left into Wal basher (Marshall Watson’s field). Riders follow the track up to Braxfield Road through the gate right then 1st left a short distance up the Bankhead Terrace past the cottage on the right across the grass through the fence then left into Lawrie and Symington 2 fields around the fields exiting right back onto beeches track down the track towards Colin young crossroads and turn right up the hill then left at the twin houses, back down towards the New Lanark car park and the event finishes, where horseboxes await.
