| About us | SMILE Children’s Charity is a registered Scottish charity based in Lanarkshire, created from lived experience and love. We know first-hand the exhaustion, isolation and constant uncertainty families face when caring for a seriously ill or disabled child. SMILE was founded to ensure no family feels alone in that journey. We support families of children with disabilities, complex additional needs, life-limiting or serious illnesses through inclusive events, peer connection, wellbeing support and practical help. Our work provides moments of relief, dignity and joy in lives often shaped by hospital appointments and crisis. We are now working to transform the former Canderavon Care Home in Stonehouse into a fully accessible Respite House, Sensory Play Centre and Family Support Hub. This space will offer safe overnight respite, sensory regulation areas, and community support — helping up to 500 families each year to rest, recharge and create precious memories together. |
| Our Wish | We are seeking financial donations to support the ongoing running costs of SMILE Children’s Charity and the direct support we provide to families of children with disabilities, life-limiting or serious illness. Unlike one-off projects, our work supports families every single week. Donations help us to: Deliver inclusive family events and safe social opportunities Provide peer support and wellbeing sessions for parents and carers Offer practical assistance during times of crisis Reduce isolation for families who often feel forgotten Cover essential operational costs that keep our services accessible and free Many of the families we support are caring for medically fragile children 24 hours a day. They face constant hospital appointments, emotional strain and financial pressure. SMILE provides moments of relief, connection and dignity in lives that are often incredibly heavy. Financial contributions of any size help sustain our day-to-day services and ensure families never have to pay to access support. There is no single deadline, the need is ongoing, and every donation makes a real and immediate difference. |
