Prevent - Counter-terrorism strategy
Prevent is part of the UK's Counter-terrorism strategy (CONTEST) 2023. Its aim is simple: to stop people from becoming involved in terrorism or supporting extremist activity.
Prevent works in the same way as other early‑help services. If someone is at risk – for example, because they are isolated, being exploited, or influenced by harmful ideas – Prevent can offer confidential support to help them stay safe.
Prevent also supports people who are already involved in terrorism to help them move away from harmful behaviour and make safer choices.
If you’re worried about someone, please act early. Your concern could help protect them.
