Reuse and recycle
Household waste can be reduced, reused, recycled, recovered and disposed of in different ways.
If you’re unsure how, what or where to recycle certain materials our pages will guide you through.
For anything that cannot currently be recycled, please visit our Black/green household waste bin page.
Local recycling centres
We have six main household waste and recycling centres where you can recycle glass, paper, textiles, oil, car batteries and cans. By using our recycling facilities you are helping us reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill.
Other local recycling points
There are other recycling points across the area, often located next to supermarket car parks. To find your nearest one use Recyclenow's local recycling locator
What to put in your household recycling bins
If you want to check what goes in each of your household bins, please visit the Your recycling bins page.
Understanding recycling symbols
Many everyday products now display recycling symbols. To learn what these symbols mean and how to dispose of the items correctly, visit Recycle for Scotland.
