Local Transport Strategy 2024-2034

Our current Local Transport Strategy (LTS) was published in 2013 and presented a 10-year vision for transport in the local authority area.

With the 10-year timeframe of the current strategy coming to an end this year, we are now in the process of developing a new strategy that will cover the period 2024-2034.

The new strategy for South Lanarkshire will set the future direction for our approach to the development and upkeep of the transport infrastructure and policy within our area. The strategy will also set out how we will contribute to the delivery of the obligations set out in the National and Regional Transport Strategies and other key policy drivers.

Transport policies and actions will be developed, and indicators identified to monitor the progress made by us on these actions.

Consultation

We consulted with the public, councillors and key stakeholders in summer 2023 to identify the problems, issues, and opportunities for transport in South Lanarkshire. The consultation closed on 1 September with a total of 1,035 responses.

The final draft strategy is being finalised and a further consultation exercise is scheduled over this summer, which would be followed by its publication later in 2024.
