Submitting plans and documents for your planning application

You are strongly encouraged to submit plans via the ePlanning portal.

If you are unable to do so, you can send us your plans and supporting documents electronically, which is often the quickest and easiest way to share information about your planning application.

You can email files directly to planning@southlanarkshire.gov.uk.

File formats

To help us process your application quickly, please use the following formats:

• plans: PDF
• documents: Microsoft Word or PDF

Using standard formats means we can view, check and store your information easily.

File size guidance

Please keep individual files to 5 MB or less where possible. This makes it easier for us to download, open and process your documents.

If you need to send a large file:

• split it into smaller parts before sending
• or, if you prefer, we can split it for you — but you must remove any password protection

We cannot accept password‑protected files.
