Making changes to approved plans
If you already have planning permission but need to change your approved plans, this page explains what to do next. Some changes can be dealt with quickly, while others need a new planning application. We’ll help you understand the difference and how to apply.
Minor changes to approved plans
If your change is small, you may be able to apply for a non‑material variation. This is for changes that do not significantly affect the original permission.
We compare your proposed change with the approved plans to decide whether it is:
- non‑material – a small change with no significant impact
- material – a change that could affect neighbours, the appearance of the building or how the development works
Each request is considered on its own merits. Where it is considered a material change, a fresh revised planning application will be required.
Apply for a non‑material variation
You can apply online using our form.
Each request is charged at £247. Payment must be made when you apply, so please have your card details ready
No neighbour notification is required, and we aim to issue a decision within 21 days of receiving your application.
