Aims and ObjectivesShared Parental Leave will come into effect on 5 April 2015 and has been created as part of the provisions within the Children and Families Act 2014. This new right allows parents to share time off work after their child is born or after the adoption placement date. The aims and objectives of the policy is to give males and those in same sex relationships fair and equal access to Shared parental leave.
ConclusionThis assessment has underlined that Shared Parental Leave could have a positive impact on various factors for employees within South Lanarkshire Council. As the policy does not become effective until 1 April 2015, the impact is not yet known but will be monitored via appropriate forums.
