Title | EDR09 - Financial Savings 2024-2025– Payments to RegenFX |
---|---|
Council Resource | Education |
Aims and Objectives | Remove Council support to RegenFX for youth services. RegenFX (Youth Trust) was established as a charity in 2007 and aims to identify, design and deliver solutions to ease youth poverty, associated anti-social behaviour and provide youth diversion activities within the regeneration areas of South Lanarkshire. The organisation directly delivers youth projects and recruits, trains and supports volunteers. It helps to administer funding streams for groups and individuals and provides several youth work training courses. The payments to RegenFX from Education are £0.115m and are made up as follows: Staff Costs Contribution - £0.031m Youth, Family and Community Learning Contribution - £0.020m Universal Connections Contribution - £0.064m |
Conclusion | The Service currently contributes £0.115m towards Regen:Fx youth trust, which provides diversionary activities for young people. The proposed saving is £0.115m. Due to the specific supports provided by the organisation there is a potential for negative impacts on the protected characteristics of age and disability, however there is no evidence that this will be the case as the organisation may be able to access an alternative funding source. The impact of this proposal will be monitored and reported through the regular committee reporting process. There is a recognition that this saving could result in a reduction in service provision for vulnerable young people in a service where the demands are increasing. Approved by Council on 21 February 2024. |
