Home contents insurance

We insure the structure of your home. This does not cover the things you own inside your home, such as your furniture, electrical items and personal belongings.

Replacing your belongings can be expensive. By purchasing contents insurance, your items are insured if something happens, such as

• fire
• theft
• flooding or escape of water
• accidental damage (if selected)

We work with one of the UK's largest insurers to offer home contents insurance.

There is no excess, so you will not have to pay anything towards a claim.

To apply, fill in the application form below. After the first two questions, you will either be able to complete the rest of the form online or you will be given a phone number for the Insurance Team for help. Please keep a copy of the application form for your records.

The cost will depend on the amount of cover you need.

How to pay

Your home contents insurance payments are added to your rent account. You can pay online by making a payment to your rent account. You can pay weekly, fortnightly, monthly or annually.

Making a claim

If you have insurance through the Council's scheme and wish to submit a claim following loss or damage to your home contents, please phone the loss adjuster Sedgwick on 0345 604 8901. Please check your tenants insurance policy booklet first to make sure you are covered.
