Naming ceremonies

Naming ceremonies for babies and children

Bespoke ceremonies by South Lanarkshire's Registrars

We offer naming ceremonies to celebrate your baby or child and welcome them into your family and community. It is a non‑religious ceremony led by our registrars, where you can make promises to your child in front of family and friends.

Where ceremonies can take place

You can hold your ceremony in one of our ceremony rooms or choose another venue, such as a hotel. If the venue is not licensed, we will need to carry out a safety check. There is an extra cost for ceremonies held away from our offices.

How to arrange a ceremony

You can start by completing our online civil ceremony enquiry form. We will contact you to agree a date, time and location, and confirm the cost.
