DescriptionThis churchyard was developed before the time of the present church which was built around 1116 and is a ‘B’ listed churchyard. The earliest headstone is dated 1710 and notable occupiers are the parents of William and John Hunter, pioneering surgeons and the Rev. James French, church minister of the church between 1791 and 1835. He was also the minister who tutored a young Walter Scott. The churchyard is also linked to the Stuarts of Torrance and the Covenanters. There are no lairs available within the churchyard however; cremated remains may be scattered or interred within family lairs. There are records dating back to the 1875.
Visiting timesThere is open access to the grounds of the cemetery at all times
