Council Resource | Finance and Corporate |
Service Area | Finance and Corporate |
Aims and Objectives | Reviews are being conducted across resources to consider the arrangements for delivery of services so that overlap, duplication and opportunities for simplifying and streamlining service delivery can be identified and assessed to ensure the most effective, efficient and accessible delivery to the community. Reviews are being carried out in manner that ensures there is no serious effect on the legislative requirements of services, the Council as a whole and in order to maintain our ability to deliver statutory services. |
Conclusion | The reviews will focus on ensuring the most effective, efficient and accessible delivery to the community by identifying opportunities for simplifying and streamlining service delivery. Whilst there is a recognition that any reductions in posts are likely to impact disproportionately on women this is reflective on the make up of the workforce that shows that 70% of the workforce are female. Any employee effected by the review will be managed in line with the Councils collective bargaining agreement able to seek early retirement, able to seek voluntary redundancy or will be redeployed. Additionally, the age profile of the Council, the average age of employees is 46, and the lack of opportunity to fill vacant posts should be taken into consideration when deciding on the proposal to remove posts. The review of services for the year ahead are subject to consultation and individual impact assessment. Where adverse impact has been identified, steps will be taken to limit the effect on protected groups. |
