Conclusion | The recommendation is to introduce closures over the festive holidays for the following centres: The facilities affected are; Clydesdale area - Willie Waddell Leisure Centre, Biggar Sports Centre, Coalburn Leisure centre, Blackwood and Kirkmuirhill, East Kilbride area - Stewartfield Community Centre, Duncanrig, Alistair McCoist Rutherglen/Cambuslang area - Stonelaw Large centres within each area will remain open, these are: Clydesdale - Carluke Leisure Centre, Lanark Lifestyle Hamilton - Larkhall Leisure Centre, Hamilton Water Palace and Blantyre Leisure Centre East Kilbride - Dollan Aqua Centre, John Wright Sports Centre, Strathaven Leisure Centre and the Ice Rink Rutherglen and Cambuslang - Eastfield Lifestyle As a result, a saving of £0.028m will be realised through a reduction in Property Costs over the period of closure. It is anticipated that this change will allow existing services to continue to be delivered at the most effective and efficient times to meet customer demand. Existing evidence supports this as there is low customer demand at the centres proposed for closure during the dates proposed. Staff will be given the option to take holidays or work at an alternative location. Any changes to staff working location will be kept to a minimum and contracted hours will not be affected. There is a potential that this proposal will impact across all protected characteristic groups, however this is likely to be minimal as the closure of the facilities mentioned is reflective of low customer demand over the period proposed. |
