Aims and ObjectivesThe South Lanarkshire Gender- Based Violence Strategy and Action Plan 2020 - 2023 aims to establish the issues relating to gender- based violence in South Lanarkshire and identifies the priorities to be addressed by the South Lanarkshire Gender Based Violence Partnership.

Tackling inequality, disadvantage and discrimination is a key priority for the partnership. Our overall vision is for partners to work together to ensure that women and girls in South Lanarkshire are equally safe at home, at work and in the community.

Essentially, the partnership is committed to preventing, removing or diminishing the risk of gender based violence; ensuring that policy making and practice developments around gender- based violence are shaped by the experiences , needs and views of those who use services; ensure that adequate services are being provided which deal with the consequences of gender- based violence and help people to rebuild their lives; and to protect people from victimisation, repeat victimisation or harassment by perpetrators.

The Gender - Based Violence Strategy and Action Plan 2020 - 2023 sets out the work of the partnership over the next three years. The strategy outlines the priorities partners are working towards and the actions they will take to address these priorities.
ConclusionThe Gender - Based Violence strategy is relevant to everyone who lives or works in South Lanarkshire, as the fundamental basis of our approach is to create a society whereby everyone can live free from gender - based violence, where women and girls are not discriminated against because of their gender and where women and men are valued equally for their contributions to society.
