Course informationA career in Software Development could mean working in a wide range of roles within a diverse industry, one of which is IT and Telecoms. Software development is also behind every app you use and every computer game you play. If you work in this sector you could be developing databases, working on virtual reality projects, games design or cyber security.
So if you can think creatively to solve problems and enjoy computing science and maths then you could have a successful career in software development.
Units covered• NPA in software development at SCQF level 6
• 4 units from the diploma for IT and Telecommunications Professional at SCQF Level 6
• Work based learning with employer
Entry requirementsEntry requirements
• Students must have gained National 5 English (A-C) by end of S4
• Students must be studying a minimum of 1 or more Highers in S5.
• For students selecting 1 year course, Nat 5 English and 1 higher must be achieved before starting the FA
• Students must have an interest in developing a greater awareness of the industry and a strong desire to work in the sector.
