CCTV - Uddingston

CCTV - Uddingston | South Lanarkshire Council
IdeaTime to remove the CCTV camera covering the underpass leading to the pedestrian access to Uddingston Grammar School. This camera has been there for over a year now and has had no effect in reducing the routine vandalism in the underpass. Meanwhile the taxpayer is paying the electricity bills to keep all the street lights on permanently in the Knowehead Estate to power the camera while still paying for the routine whitewashing of the underpass to cover up the graffiti.
ResponseThis is one of the council’s dedicated anti-social behaviour (ASB) cameras used for graffiti and fly-tipping hotspots. These complement the deployable CCTV units we have for general ASB and makes best use of resources. However, following this enquiry we have reviewed this location and have removed this camera.
