Equipment and Adaptations - Budget Review and Revision | South Lanarkshire Council
TitleEquipment and Adaptations - Budget Review and Revision
Council ResourceSocial Work
Aims and ObjectivesIn comparison to other local authority areas across Scotland, the cost incurred by South Lanarkshire Council to provide equipment and/or adaptations continues to be higher than the average cost incurred.

In respect of the provision of equipment and adaptations, the intended outcome is that annual expenditure will reduce from £2.5m to £1.945m however the substantial and critical needs of service users will continue to be met.

This EQUIA therefore considers the impact of the recommendation to review the purchase and provision of equipment.
ConclusionThe policy should be implemented. The care needs of all people assessed as requiring access to equipment and/or adaptations can be managed more effectively within the available funding. The key outcomes of the policy are as follows:
- Actual expenditure will require to be contained within the funding available of £1.945m. The available funding will therefore be directed to best effect to meet substantial and critical needs.
- Access to recycled equipment will be maximised.
- Access to Housing Improvement Grant funding will be maximised.
