| Consultation summary and background | This survey is asking questions about how your child/children like to play, where they go and what they would like to see changed in these play spaces/open spaces. We want to know what is important to them, what makes them feel safe and also what would make play spaces better for you as their parent/guardian/carer. Your thoughts, experiences and opinions really do matter to us and they will help to shape how South Lanarkshire will look in the future. |
| Why are we consulting? | As a Planning Service at the Council we are getting ready to produce the next Local Development Plan for South Lanarkshire. This will be a long term plan covering all of the South Lanarkshire's areas and settlements and will include lots of things that will make a difference to your life and the lives of your children. The Local Development Plan will take a couple of years to create simply because of the huge amount of issues and spaces it will cover, and so we are hoping to have it published in 2027. We are looking for your input today to help us shape South Lanarkshire into a place that is genuinely good and beneficial for you and your children. |

| How will findings be used? | The results from this survey will help us to understand where children like to go to play and why. It will help us understand what is important to them, what makes them feel safe, and what activities and services they would like to see provided in play spaces. Alongside the positives, the survey results will also highlight play spaces which are of poor quality and why. It will also highlight spaces that are important to children and their parents/carers/guardians and will help inform the next local development plan which will have these spaces included as important to the community. |
