About usHigh Blantyre Primary School Parent Council provides support to our pupils and our families.
Our WishAt High Blantyre Primary School we aim to work together to provide a positive learning experience in a safe supported learning environment, promoting a love of learning for all. In High Blantyre Supported Classes we cater for children who have complex and moderate Additional Support Needs. Staff create sensory, communication rich environments to meet the needs of all. Many of our children are non verbal and use gestures, photographs, concrete objects and gaze to communicate. Pupil's respond well to creative workshops such as music, dance, drama and alternative therapies. As a school we strive to provide as many enriching opportunities for our supported classes pupils to broaden their experiences. Some pupils access classes within mainstream and work alongside their peers on curricular areas. Milestones are used within the Supported classes where needed to support practitioners to identify the progression of learning. Foundation milestones provide an outline of key skills and competencies for all curricular areas. We believe in developing essential communication and life skills through planning learning activities, daily interactions, and routines. Wish: Funding to be able to deliver creative sessions to groups of pupils and families. Being able to communicate meaningfully through music and song will alleviate frustration and really bring joy and smiles to every child’s face. Music is a rich and wonderful way to connect and deepen any parent/child bond.
