About us | works to break down social isolation and loneliness, especially those suffering from financial and increasing poverty. Aimed at those challenged by mental, physical, and disconnection from the surrounding community. Meets weekly have organised many successful events in Ruether Hall. Now we want to have free film events but need the means |
Our Wish | We would love a projector and screen to help us run free community events, especially for older people who are less mobile or on a low income. We want to offer things like film afternoons, local history talks, and memory-boosting slide shows about 1950s life, which are great for those living with dementia and their carers. Over the past eight years, we’ve built strong links with care homes and support groups, so we know there’s a real need for this. There aren’t many free activities aimed at this often-overlooked group. Visual displays really help people stay engaged and can make our events more enjoyable and meaningful. Why is this important? Older people can often feel invisible and lonely. Many go days or even weeks without speaking to anyone. Our events offer them a warm welcome, a bite to eat, something fun to do, and a chance to meet others. With a projector and screen, we can make our events even better and reach even more people in our community. |
