| About us | Universal Connections is a youth centre serving the community of Hamilton, Youths families and adults in South Lanarkshire have lots of opportunities to get together, to learn and have fun in a variety of settings. We run free groups and programmes based on individual needs working with all different age range. This is a safe environment for everyone to be themselves. This provides life changing chances for people of all ages, through learning, personal development. |
| Our Wish | We are looking for finical support to enable us to provide our children, young people, families and community with a Christmas Week they will never forget. Now more than ever our learners and service users are feeling the impact of austerity measures and rising costs negatively impacting on their ability to live and enjoy life. At a time of year when we should all be celebrating and enjoying treats and festivities our service users are instead left feeling the burden of financial pressures, the loneliness that can come at this time of year and often times hunger due to a lack of funds and hard choices being made. At Hamilton Universal Connections we believe that everyone should get to enjoy an amazing Christmas, no matter who you are or where you live. That is why this year we are hosting targeted Christmas events from Monday 22 December to Wednesday 24 December. We are looking to host a Young Person's Christmas lunch, to ensure all young people get the chance to have an amazing Christmas dinner surrounded by their friends and youth workers who care so much about them - something so many of us take for granted. We are also hosting an Adult ASN Christmas party complete with food, gifts and activities to ensure some of our most vulnerable community members get the chance to meet their friends and have time with CLD staff to make amazing Christmas memories. Lastly on Christmas Eve will be hosting and creating our very first Brunch with Santa, open to all of the community and families and completely free of charge, We'll have Elf on the big screen, Christmas breakfast for all, arts and crafts stations and hopefully a small gift for all of the children and young people in attendance. And of course, an appearance from the 'Big Man' himself! We aim to bring as much Christmas magic as we can into the lives of our learners this Christmas but that will only be possible with donations from kind people, organisations, companies and businesses alike. We're looking to be able to buy food to feed over 200 people across the week, selection boxes, Christmas decorations to bring the magic to life and small gifts - even little tubes of sweeties etc. We would ideally like all funds to be secured by the 1st week in December to allow for all of the food to be planned and gifts and decorations to be bought. We would also be happy to accept vouchers or anything at all that can help! |
