| About us | LDVG ‘s aim is to reduce physical and social isolation and increase health and wellbeing for adults in Lanarkshire, by providing a range of inclusive and accessible services and activities. We currently have approximately 360 members and 96 volunteers. Services and activities a Monday to Friday call line, 6 lunch clubs, Free Handyperson Service, Activity Groups such as IT, genealogy, walking group, gardening group, Thursday night social group, craft group, armed forces community group, sporting memories, and strength and balance exercise classes. We provide community transport with 5 minibuses (2 electric, 3 low emissions) covering lunch club transport, activity group transport, shopping services, outings and trips for our members and community groups. We also have a volunteer community Car, facilitating attendance at non-emergency NHS appointments using our electric pool car. Lastly we host a community fridge and café: targeting food waste and sharing excess produce with the community. We work closely with partners to maximize the impact of our resources and keep us abreast of the changing needs of the community and encourage collaborative solutions. |
| Our Wish | We’ve recently faced a reduction in core funding that supports one of our most valued services — our free Handyperson Service. Our dedicated volunteers carry out small, non-emergency DIY tasks for people who are unable to do them themselves. This includes jobs like changing ceiling light bulbs, fitting mobility aids, assembling flat-pack furniture, or installing key safes. We’re seeking financial support to help us keep this lifeline service running. Your contribution would make a real and immediate difference, helping local adults maintain their independence, safety, and comfort at home. In recognition of your generosity, we’d be proud to acknowledge your business as a valued community partner committed to improving wellbeing and reducing loneliness locally. |
