School catchment area maps
How a catchment school is decided
A child’s catchment school is determined by:
- the home address, and
- whether the child will attend a denominational or non‑denominational school.
Secondary school catchments and learning communities
Secondary school catchment areas usually include pupils from several primary schools.
The grouping of primary, ASN and secondary schools is known as a Learning Community.
Find your school catchment area
To view the school catchment area for your address:
- enter your street name or postcode in the search box, and
- select your address from the list provided
(This tool will show the correct catchment primary and secondary school for your address.)
Early learning and childcare settings
You can also use the postcode checker above to view early learning and childcare settings near your address or use our directory of early learning and childcare settings.
Please note:
- early years settings are not included in school catchment areas
- as nurseries do not have catchment areas you can choose any nursery
- attending a nursery class in a primary school does not give an automatic right to a place at that primary school
You must still enrol your child at their catchment school.
