Victims, survivors and families affected by crime
Support for victims and witnesses
If you have been affected by crime or anti‑social behaviour, you do not need to cope alone. Victim Support offers free, confidential and independent help to anyone, no matter when the incident happened or whether it was reported.
What Victim Support can help you with
Victim Support offers emotional and practical support to help you feel safer and more in control. You can get:
- time to talk about how you feel
- help to contact other agencies
- support to complete a Criminal Injuries Compensation claim
- court support if you are a witness
- general advice and reassurance
You can use this service at any stage, even if you are unsure what to do next.
How to get support
Your housing adviser can refer you to Victim Support. If you prefer, you can ask for help yourself by completing our Anti-social behaviour reporting form.
We will make sure your details reach the right team, and someone from Victim Support will contact you to discuss what you need.
Other organisations that can help
Depending on what has happened, you may find support from other specialist services:
- Lanarkshire Rape Crisis – support for anyone affected by sexual violence
- Women's Aid South Lanarkshire – support for women and children experiencing domestic abuse
- PETAL – support for families affected by homicide or suicide
If you are not sure which service is right for you, get in touch and we will help guide you.
