Outdoor Access

South Lanarkshire Outdoor Access Forum

The South Lanarkshire Outdoor Access Forum brings people together to improve and support access to the outdoors across the area. The forum includes land managers, walkers, cyclists, horse riders, anglers, disabled people and local community groups.

We meet four times a year to discuss access issues, share ideas and help shape how people use and enjoy outdoor spaces. The forum has played an important role in developing and improving the core path network across South Lanarkshire.

What the forum does

The forum helps us make decisions about outdoor access by bringing together different views and experience. Members discuss local access projects, raise issues affecting paths and routes, and suggest ways to improve access for everyone.

We use these discussions to guide our work and make sure outdoor spaces are welcoming, safe and usable for a wide range of people.

Who is involved

The forum includes representatives from:

  • Land management and rural businesses
  • Walking, cycling and horse riding groups
  • Angling interests
  • Disability access groups
  • Local communities

This mix helps make sure different needs are considered when planning and managing access.

Meetings and information

The forum meets every three months. You can read minutes from recent meetings to see what has been discussed and what actions have been agreed.
