Seniors Together
South Lanarkshire Older Peoples Assembly
A space for older people to hear, share and be heard
The Older Peoples Assembly brings older people together to discuss issues that matter to them. Hosted by Seniors Together, the Assembly runs at least twice a year in different parts of South Lanarkshire. Anyone aged 60 or over can attend, whether you are part of a local group or joining as an individual.
The Assembly is chaired by the council’s Older Peoples Champion, who leads discussions and helps make sure your views are listened to.
What happens at the Assembly
Each event focuses on topics that affect older people in everyday life. You can:
- hear from guest speakers
- get updates from senior staff across health, social care, community safety and other local services
- learn about changes that may affect you
- ask questions and share your experiences
- give feedback that helps shape local services
Speakers often include chief officers and professionals from public and voluntary organisations. They talk about work happening across South Lanarkshire and share useful information on health, safety, wellbeing, money matters and community support.
Where assemblies take place
We aim to host one Assembly in each of the four main localities of South Lanarkshire. This helps more people attend and ensures the topics covered reflect local needs.
Why attend
The Assembly is a chance to:
- have your voice heard
- meet others and share ideas
- stay informed about local services
- help improve support for older people
Your feedback plays a vital part in helping us understand what matters most to older residents.
