Child performance licences
Child performance licences
If a child of school age is taking part in entertainment activities such as television, theatre, modelling or sport, you may need to apply for a child performance licence.
We use this process to make sure the child’s education, health and wellbeing are protected during the activity. You should apply as early as possible.
When you need a licence
You will usually need a licence if a child is involved in:
- television productions
- theatre performances
- modelling work
- sporting or other entertainment activities
How to apply
To apply, email Education Resources to request an application form: education@southlanarkshire.gov.uk
You must submit your application at least 21 days before the performance. Late applications may not be processed in time.

The application has two parts:
Production company (Part 1):
- a copy of the child’s contract
- a risk assessment
- parent or carer (Part 2):
- proof of the child’s age, such as a birth certificate
- two recent passport-sized photographs (taken within the last 6 months)
